Samaritan Fund & Food Pantry

Samaritan Fund

The Samaritan Fund is a long-standing extension ministry of High Street. Our Samaritan Fund provides assistance to  members of Delaware Country with utility bills, rent payments, bus passes (within town), prescriptions, and more.

The High Street Samaritan Fund is able to help 12 people per week on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. (24 total people per month)

We ask those wishing to receive assistance from our Samaritan Fund to call the church, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. at 765.747.8500 at 8 am to make your appointment.

Callers are urged to call us as close to 8 am as possible to get scheduled with an assistance appointment that happens between 10 am and 2 pm, depending on volunteer caller availability.  We are able to help households with a variety of bills (rent, utilities, gas cards, bus passes, some prescriptions, etc.) based upon the company owed willingness to accept our pledge and check. Currently, we are only able to assist with up to $50 but have applied for funding that would increase that amount significantly. We are able to assist with households once every six months, currently, and are working on that, too.

 High Street Food Pantry

The High Street Food Pantry was established over 50 years ago, and has continued to be a growing ministry within our community.

Each recipient receives three bags of both perishable and nonperishable food items.

We ask that those wishing to receive items from our food pantry call the church office at 765.747.8500 between 8 am and noon on Tuesday morning. Recipients are eligible to receive food every 3 months.

The Food Pantry is held from 1 pm-2 pm on Tuesdays at 219 S. High Street. It is suggested to bring a car or cart as bags can be heavy.

Households are asked to call in between 8 am and 12 pm with food pick-up happening between 1 pm and 2 pm at our north entrance.  Households are eligible for this assistance every three months. Food is distributed based on size of household. We ask for the caller’s name, telephone number, and address for tracking purposes, but don’t require any other information from them.
