LifeStream & Second Harvest Food Bank Expand Partnership

LifeStream Services and Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana are expanding their Senior Safety Net Food Distribution partnership. The Senior Safety Net Food Distributions provide easy access locations for seniors to receive nutritious foods.

Senior citizens are one of the fastest growing groups of people to experience food insecurity. Recognizing this threat, LifeStream Services and Second Harvest Food Bank are preparing to expand their distribution sites from 3 locations to 10 this summer. Senior Safety Net Food Distributions are currently located in Daleville, Portland, and Union City. The new locations will be spread throughout Delaware and Madison counties, with additional locations being explored.

Mandy Williams, Vice President of Programs at LifeStream, shared: “Now more than ever, older adults and those with disabilities need the support of our communities. We are grateful to Second Harvest for this partnership, which will allow us to serve those most in need.”

LifeStream’s Nutrition Program is dedicated to helping seniors in East Central Indiana have access to food and nutrition information that they need to live a healthy life. For more information on the nutrition program, please contact Dana Pierce, Nutrition Administrator, at 765-808-9059 or by email.

“Helping alleviate older adult hunger is a core piece of what we do,” said Tim Kean, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank. “This collaboration is a perfect fit to reach one of our most vulnerable segments of the population.”

The Senior Safety Net Food Distribution is in need of active volunteers to help manage the distribution of items on distribution days. Those interested in volunteering should contact Laura Bray, Volunteer Services Administrator, at 765-759-3372 or by email.
