The Farm Bill is the centerpiece federal legislation for food and farming. Through the Farm Bill, our nation has a viable pathway to help the over 44 million people facing hunger in the U.S. put food on the table. However, ongoing debates have stalled the bill long past its due date. We’re joining Feeding America in asking people to advocate for a strong Farm Bill that centers the voices of people facing hunger.
The farm bill reauthorization process, which typically occurs every five years, provides an opportunity to improve and strengthen many federal nutrition programs, including TEFAP, SNAP, and more. These programs work in tandem with food banks to ensure access to nutritional stability across the country. As grocery prices rise, lawmakers must come together to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill that supports food banks and the people they serve.
When you write to your legislators, if you have a personal story of how supporting families facing hunger has helped them thrive, that would be a great place to share it! Real stories of real people are proven to lead to real change.
